I Love Musicals

2007 was a great year for movie musicals! Let's see, there's the Hairspray remake, Chicago (ok, not 2007 but i saw the live production), Ma Ma Mia!, Sweeney Todd Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Across The Universe.

I'm addicted to Across The Universe right now and it does have a special place in my heart because it features purely music by The Beatles! YEAH!

It's basically about lovers and friends stringing all the great Beatles songs together in a story set in the 60s. The covers of such familiar songs however are fresh and contemporary. Good singing and choreography delivers on what is great about the Beatles...celebrations of joy, friendship, love and yet reminding us of the pains and sufferings of life.

Here's a trailer of the movie:

And this is the best quality Youtube vid of one of many beautiful songs from the movie. If only there's a video clip of this song from the movie. (The rest I found don't do justice to how amazing this part of the movie is for me).

Some information, the song is I Wanna Hold Your Hand and it's sung by a character named Prudence. The actress playing her is T.V. Carpio and she's really pretty. Her superlative voice control is impressive! Too bad the character Prudence is lesbian...d'oh!

Stumbled Upon Quotation

When we're incomplete, we're always searching for somebody to complete us. When, after a few years or a few months of a relationship, we find that we're still unfulfilled, we blame our partners and take up with somebody more promising. This can go on and on--series polygamy--until we admit that while a partner can add sweet dimensions to our lives, we, each of us, are responsible for our own fulfillment. Nobody else can provide it for us, and to believe otherwise is to delude ourselves dangerously and to program for eventual failure every relationship we enter. - Tom Robbins

On Dream Coincidences

Dreamt of meeting a girl on a bus last night. Her name was Wan Li and she's from Malacca. Woke up and immediately googled "Wan Li Malacca".

Turns out it's a
shipwreck off the coast of Terengganu containing Chinese treasures. It was a Portuguese ship bound for the ancient Malaccan port when it was sunk by the Dutch privateers. did this happen? Maybe i read of this shipwreck sometime ago and forgot about it? Maybe my brain was trying to 'dump' this memory out?

Or am i supposed to do something about this shipwreck?

On Long Hair

I was in Low Yat with my buddies Alan and Jacky...

Me: I don't like guys with long hair.

Alan: Why?

Me: They confuse me! I see one and i think, "is that a guy or a gal?" And "why is that guy prettier than the gal sitting next to him?!"

Alan: That's not the guy's problem isn't it? It's the girl's problem!

Me: I still don't like guys with long hair. Guys shouldn't have long hair!

On Sex and Abstinence

Girls, if a guy truly wants a relationship, he won't be seducing you or pressuring you into having sex. Furthermore, even if he isn't sure if he loves you, at least he wants to love you, he will totally respect your wishes not to give it away so soon.

If you're the initiator, just play safe and know what you're getting into. It's totally possible he won't call you or see you anymore afterwards.

Personally, I would avoid pre-marital might or might not complicate things even though I can't imagine myself feeling too guilty about it afterwards!

The Life Cycle of a Blog Post, From Servers to Spiders to Suits -- to You

Do you know what happens whenever you click on the 'Publish' button to post your blog entry?
Check out this simple to understand Flash diagram.
If you're not a techie, then let me summarise it for ya. Whenever you publish your blog post, a lot of information about you and whatever you've written gets sent to Search Engines (so they may index your blog content) and dataminers/advertisers. The information gleaned from this helps corporations sell better and more. It's also feedback for how effective their marketing techniques may be.

So now you know where spam and targeted pop-up ads come from eh?

Ok...gonna click on 'Publish Post' now...hehehe!
