Science & Technology at Scientific American.com: Ask the Experts: Biology: Why can't a person tickle himself?

A few days ago I told a colleague about the curious fact that you can't seem to be able to tickle yourself. When someone tickles you, you felt ticklish, however when you try to tickle yourself, you don't seem to feel it.

This is one of our body's interesting mysteries. I read about it years back and science couldn't answer it....yet. And now the answer is here!

I wish they described the robot test in more detail though. What configuration and how to program the delay mentioned.

Airliners.net Photos: Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-2H6/ER

A really hard to capture photograph of a MAS plane dumping fuel while one of its engine fails. Really cool details of debris blasting out of the engine!
Read the story as told by the Swedish photographer who took this.

This flight was on route to Kay Elle from Stockholm. Note the words 'Visit Malaysia Year 2007' at the side!

Continuum - by John Mayer

I've been listening to John Mayer's music since his 'Room For Squares' album...since college time...since two of my college mates were totally crazy into his music. Mr. Mayer's latest album Continuum might be his third album but it's...oh wow! I love it!

While his earlier efforts had been quite good with impressive guitar playing and truly sweet lyrics that would melt any girl's heart, this album sees him finally maturing with fantastic results!

I was first pulled to his latest album when I heard the catchy 'Waiting on the World to Change' on my car radio so I went looking for the latest John Mayer CD. This first track is still catchy and almost feel-good even though the political message it contains is quite poignant. A note for those of you who think the lyrics are about encouraging cowardice and inaction...it is not! He is using irony as a subtle form of protest...

This album is full of blues, soul and folk-tinged music even though Mayer's pop roots are still there. Not as if that's a bad thing at all!

I especially like the warmth of 'The Heart Of Life' and the calm reassurance that despite everything, life is still good. Probably an appropriate song to listen to when you're feeling blue.

And then there's 'Stop This Train', listening to it is like living all of life's bittersweetness all in the time and space of 4 minutes and 45 seconds. Absolutely gorgeous when you have a good set of speakers, a deep throw sub-woofer and a dark breezy room to sit in. Which I did, as I leaned back and look at KLCC's twin towers on a clear cool night.

The bluesy 'Gravity' sounds and feels very much like an Eric Clapton song. Simple but heartfelt lyrics accompanied by simple chord progression and a subdued gospel texture in the background makes this a true blues gem!

'Bold as Love' is Mayer's cover of a Jimi Hendrix song. Though his voice might not have Hendrix's edge, this is obviously Mayer saying, "look! I'm a damn fine guitarist! You hear me?!". And I agree... :)

I can certainly write a paragraph for each song on this album but restraint is probably in order here. You probably know all too surely by now that I'm bubbly about this album! Hehe!

Anyway, let me put the loop on and listen to another round of John Mayer....Goodnight!

YouTube - RK House Prank - No PORK! (Full Version) with Subtitles

This is a truly funny prank but as with all pranks, it's cruel so enjoy...guiltily!

FYI: Only Malaysians and perhaps Singaporens would get this...

The Quick and Dirty Software Development Life Cycle

I copied this from some programmer's blog. Unfortunately I couldn't remember where! I just had it saved to my Opera browser notes all this while.
Seems like a simple and straightforward plan. In other words...good! Can't wait to try this...

10: get the simplest case working.
20: get something twice as good working.
30: release to users
40: get something 5% better working.
50: goto 30

By the way, the syntax above reminds me of Applesoft BASIC. ie. My first love in programming!

Battle of Thermopylae - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Battle of Thermopylae is probably ancient history's most famous story of courage on the battlefield. So before you go watch the movie '300', based on Frank Miller's comic which in turn is based on the Battle of Thermopylae, go fill up on some history!

Chok Loon, Angie & Kenny, originally uploaded by Kenny Fong.

I was mucking around and trying to label all my CD-Rs and found this photo. It's low quality unfortunately. I ran it through the Neat Image utility to remove a whole lot of noise.

This was taken in Berjaya Times Square mall sometime in 2003. I remember the occasion was Kerk's birthday and by some coincidence the three of us were wearing red.

I like this photo. Hey guys, do you still have the high quality version of this pic?

My 2007 Anti-Resolutions
This is my list of anti-resolutions. For an idea of what this is all about, read
this blog post. Then drag your friggin' ass back over here and read my list!! :p Pretty please?

1. I will not let my hair 'down' again...oops! I mean 'up' because my unruly recalcitrant shag of dead cells are as spiky as ever. I now have a bottle of wet-look gel AND some hair wax (you sure that's for hair and not for my car?) to flatten my natural porcupine look. Wish me luck.

2.I will not masturbate less often and hopefully delay the onset of total blindness, even though my glasses get thicker and thicker by the year. Okay, maybe I'll pull back a bit...to *only* twice everyday.

3. I will not 'choreograph' my guinea pigs in kamasutra poses no matter how much I enjoy seeing them squeal in confusion. The bigger pet would usually mount the smaller one to assert dominance. However, I don't tolerate bullying in my home so I would set things right by positioning the smaller piggy on top of the larger one.

4. I will not flip the finger and stick out the tongue at all those f^&*ing c@$#s*&$ers who drive recklessly on Kay Elle roads endangering my life and the lives of all good people be they pedestrians or motorists. Being more graceful, from now on I will just throw them a stream of choice words such as: "Where are you rushing off to you bl*%8#$ stupid @$$ #$%&^&ing cr$%&34ore reeming impatient dumb@$$ pissant twit!?!!"

5. I will not refer to someone as 'sohai' (stupid cunt) anymore.

6. I will not give my relatives that glassy-eyed-wishing-i'm-somewhere-else look whenever they ask me when I'm gonna get married, settle down and start a football team. From now on, I'll tell them I love gay sex and I'm lobbying for the Malaysian government to legalize same-sex marriages.
