I like this digital artist's work. Dunno why. Slightly simple, slightly cute, slightly twisted but enormously fun to look at.

MSN Money - Life expectancy calculator
Calculate your own life expectancy! Okay, not to scare you, but this is just something the insurance folks use themselves.
If it's any accurate, I'm expected to live until the age of 86. Hope I didn't lie too much with the input data!

Customer Management Asia Congress 2006

Just came back from Day One of the above event in Berjaya Times Square Convention Centre gosh knows what time and slept straight after a warm shower. It's now just 10PM and I felt I must post something!

So come visit me if you can, at the CAREWARE Systems booth pretend you're interested in our system or something! ;D
It's a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) suite with an integrated IP telephony system called Customer Interaction Center (CIC). I'll be explaining the CIC portion.

Entrance just requires a free registration so gals, especially the pretty ones, do come see me...heh! And guys, the women here aren't geeks....they're all either into Human Resource management or 'Customer Relations' (whatever that means!) so you can bet they're all power dressed and sizzling hot! ;)

The Song Drumming in My Head Now

Back to you
It always comes around
Back to you
I tried to forget you
I tried to stay away
But it's too late

Over you
I'm never over
Over you
Something about you
It's just the way you move
The way you move me
.
.
should have smiled in that picture
If it's the last that I'll see of you
It's the least that you
Could not do

Leave the light on,
I'll never give up on you,
Leave the light on....

Blogger Frustrations

Finally! This blog is back online...
For the most part of yesterday most people, including yours truly, had trouble posting new entries and publishing our blog on Blogger.

At first I went searching for a support email the report this but there is none. Then I quick look through the user forums revealed that I'm not the only one facing these problems.
I've no doubt the people at Blogger were hard at work trying to rectify the down time but it would be awfully nice if they actually post a 'We are aware of this, please bear with us' message on their News section.
I don't even take it to heart that they don't really offer any official 'support' because this is a free service.

Down times have been rather too frequent on Blogger/Blogspot these days. Maybe their budget is limited. If that is the case I really don't understand why Google would not spare Blogger more money because blogging is all the rage these days and there's a lot of business sense in developing blog engines.

Also, it's eye opening for me how many people are so dependent on their blogs. We put so much cherished information on our blogs that we can't bear to lose them. Some even get angry at the Blogger folks for problems like these. Don't they realise that this is a free service and that they shouldn't expect much?
Nevertheless, I am surprised as to how much anxiety my blog's downtime has caused me.

So Blogger....please please please pretty please improve on your announcement of downtime lags and give us some way to archive or backup our blog offline.
Thanks and we love what you've done for us so far!

MEMRI TV
Enter 'Wafa Sultan' in the search box and you will arrive at two links to two video clips of an Arab American psychologist named Wafa Sultan which was aired on Al-Jazeera television.

In both clips, this brave woman blamed the Muslim world for its support of terrorism.

In the first earlier tv debate, a Muslim cleric called her a heretic but offered no concrete rebuttal of her views. In the second video though, she lost the debate (IMO) to an Algerian Islamist named Ahmad bin Muhammad.

These are very interesting debates worth paying attention so I'd urge you to read the transcripts just to catch every single word that was exchanged.

Points to ponder:
1. Wafa Sultan claims that "The clash we are witnessing around the world is not a clash of religions, or a clash of civilizations....It is a clash between a mentality that belongs to the Middle Ages and another mentality that belongs to the 21st century."
That rings true to me.

2. Wafa Sultan is a woman. Female. Hmmm.

3. I can easily name 3 Jewish person who contributed to the well-being of humanity in the 20th century: Albert Einstein, Wolfgang Pauli and Konrad Bloch. Name 3 persons of Muslim faith who contributed to science, medicine and literature/arts in the 20th century? Hmmm...

4. It was actually a secular counter-argument by Ahmad bin Muhammad (he raised really good points) that blunted Ms. Sultan's arguments that Muslim religious education is the main 'creator' of children who grew up to be terrorists. Unfortunately, her rebuttal at the end of the debate was rather weak.
Again, my point is...it was a secular counter-argument, not one based on faith or religious authority.

5. These two debates were aired on Al Jazeera television. Media from an Arab nation, not American. Hmmm.

One Good Thing
This is a heartfelt letter written by a mother to her young children, to be read when they're grown up men.
The message contained within is powerful and even more so with a confession towards the end.

The writing is excellent.

DevilDucky - Young Girls Watching The Ring
Japan churns out one girl group after another. Sure they're all hot nubile chicks but they just can't sing!
Anyway, it's fun to see them scare shitless as they watch 'The Ring' (a horror movie if you recently crawled out of some rock).
You might need a Quicktime video plug in to view this though.

Random Song Quote
If there were no words
No way to speak
I would still hear you
If there were no tears
No way to feel inside
I'd still feel for you

And even if the sun refused to shine
Even if romance ran out of rhyme
You would still have my heart until the end of time...

I absolutely love this song...even if I have no one to slow dance with.
If you could guess the name and composer, then you have good taste! ;)

I like music videos that tell a story like these. This one's a bit unnerving and mysterious.
BTW: I think Radiohead's one of the most innovative bands alive today.

A Visit to the Doctors
Well, I came back from a clinic today assured that it's not that serious.
You see, I've been having these mild chest pains and two days ago, something happened that alarmed me to a certain extent. I guess I've been ignoring them for weeks so thanks to the insistence of friends and my sister, I decided to take today off to consult the doctor.
After explaining my symptoms and getting an ultrasound scan, the doctor said that I'm having trouble with my digestive system. It's gastric acid so the advice was to stay away from hot spicy food and anything acidic. (Darn! And I like curry!)
He also told me to chew my food properly, and eat my meals at regular times. I suppose I've gotten used to shoving food down my guts as fast as possible and skipping meals due to the inconveniences of career.

So this is how it's gonna be like from 30 on eh?

16 Commandments for Dogs

1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.

2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.

3 I will not munch on "leftovers" in the kitty litter box, although they are tasty.

4. The diaper pail is not a cookie jar.

5. The sofa is not a 'face towel'. Neither are Mom and Dad's laps.

6. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.

7. My head does not belong in the refrigerator.

8. I will not bite the officer' s hand when he reaches in for Mom's driver's license and registration.

9. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.

10. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello".

11. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.

12. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.

13. I will not throw up in the car.

14. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.

15. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch when we have company.

16. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.
