My Sister's Vacation
My sis just came back from a trip to Langkawi with a funny story. Oh, i'm sure it's funny to me but not so to her. You see, during the two hour boat ride to the main Langkawi island the waves were huge so naturally, three quarters of the passengers were nauseous and vomitting everywhere! My sis' boyfriend was the first to go and then as she was trying to comfort him, patting his back and all...EEEURRLK!! Ok, so she asked my grand-aunt for the 'minyak angin' but too late...my grand-aunt started hurling too! LOL!

Imagine the 'atmosphere'...the sound of puking left, right, front and back, the reek of upchuck in enclosed spaces...Normally when I'm nauseous i'd breathe in fresh air to help stave it off but the smells in this situation prevents that...I could puke just thinking of it! Fortunately, the boat operators provided barf-bags free of charge. If i were to operate the ferry, i'd keep bags and sea-sickness pills in stock at all times so as to make a buck or two from selling these stuff.

Other than being prepared with travel-sickness pills, one could also try pressing a peel of fresh ginger on one's forehead. Sure you'd look silly but think how much sillier you'd look when you vomit! No guarantees it'll work though...

It was a much needed laugh and i was somehow glad to see my sister again...it gets kinda lonely here staying alone.

Y.M.C.A - The Village People

Young man, there's no need to feel down.
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.
I said, young man, 'cause you're in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy.

Young man, there's a place you can go.
I said, young man, when you're short on your dough.
You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.

It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.
It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.

They have everything for you men to enjoy,
You can hang out with all the boys ...

It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.
It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.

You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal,
You can do what about you feel ...

Young man, are you listening to me?
I said, young man, what do you want to be?
I said, young man, you can make real your dreams.
But you got to know this one thing!

No man does it all by himself.
I said, young man, put your pride on the shelf,
And just go there, to the y.m.c.a.
I'm sure they can help you today.

Young man, I was once in your shoes.
I said, I was down and out with the blues.
I felt no man cared if I were alive.
I felt the whole world was so tight ...

That's when someone came up to me,
And said, young man, take a walk up the street.
There's a place there called the y.m.c.a.
They can start you back on your way.

It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.
It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a.

They have everything for you men to enjoy,
You can hang out with all the boys ...

Y-m-c-a ... you'll find it at the y-m-c-a.

Young man, young man, there's no need to feel down.
Young man, young man, get yourself off the ground.

I'm feeling rather down in the dumps right now....Ya know sometimes you have to make hard decisions but despite your determination not to regret it later...well, you do?? I know i ain't as smart as some people think i am...no way...not even close...but to be treated like this...sigh! I think we have much less control over our lives than we would like to admit and this seems to be the damned-if-you-don't-damned-if-you-do kinda situation.

Sometimes you wish you have someone to talk to or confide in but just too afraid to do so...Ah..must be self-pride...or just plain manners...Everybody wants to be listened to...nobody wants to listen.

Remember the 'COPPER' comic strip?
Well, it's a few months since i last mentioned it and there are new strips! Once every month...
FALL

TRANSIT

I think they're most based on dreams so that's why some of them are surreal. Others are about longing for love...themes i could identify with...

Love Actually (is all around)
Just saw a delightful movie. 'Love Actually' is a movie celebrating love. There's so much happening with so many people(interesting cameos too) in the movie you get the impression that the writer, Richard Curtis, didn't want to leave anything out of the topic of 'love'. You get stories of love lost, love found, love hopefully, brotherly love, familial love, love among friends, passionate love (lust), quirky love, unrequited love, divine love...so on and so forth.

The introductory monologue by Hugh Grant sums it up: when the world seems bleak and full of hatred, we must never neglect love...Love is a breath of fresh air in this world of suffocating apathy. Of course we have rare movies like these to cheer us up too! (Good choices of music for soundtrack btw!)

Richard Curtis also wrote 'Notting Hill', 'Bridget Jone's Diary', and 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'...the latter two movies i've liked too. Now i *have* to get a copy of Notting Hill!

As an aside, how come locally made movies never have intelligent scripts??

Martine Mccutcheon
Oh yeah, Love Actually also stars Martine Mccutcheon. First heard of her on an mp3 album...her music sounded kiddie pop but i liked it anyway. Turns out she's a Kylie Minogue in the making...ya know, acting in soaps, early career looking mighty cute but moving towards slutty Madonna-ishness. The movie even made fun of her 'chubby-ness'. Take a look at her pics...she's prove that you can be chubby but still look sexy. Mind you, her body shape looks normal to me...it's all those waifs that advertising brain-washes you with that looks abnormal.

Not So Random Quotes

"For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat,
and wrong." - H.L. Mencken
I've been doing lotsa problem-solving in computer programming so this quote's amusing.

"Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." - Wendell Phillips, 1852

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little
temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin, 1759

The last two should provide food for thought...especially in the here and now.

Gilmore Girls Unofficial Website

Okay, this might come back to smack me later on but yeah, i admit i'm a big 'Gilmore Girls' fan. It's absolutely the best written show on Malaysian tv, just read the episode transcripts on the fansite to discover how witty and funny the show can get.
Been watching a lot of that show and following 'Alias' too. Thanks 8tv...though the 'Quickie' is just 15 minutes too long...get on with the show already!

Keiko Agena aka 'Lane' interview

I've always had a thing for Lorelai Gilmore but turns out the actress playing Lane is kinda cute too...without the geeky glasses and annoying Lane-talk that is.

"Extraordinary" composed and performed by Liz Phair

You think that I go home at night
Take off my clothes, turn out the lights
But I burn letters that I write
To you, to make you love me

Yeah, I drive naked through the park
And run the stop sign in the dark
Stand in the street, yell out my heart
To make, to make you love me

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho

You may not believe in me
But I believe in you
So I still take the trash out
Does that make me too normal for you?

So dig a little deeper, cause
You still don't get it yet
See me lickin' my lips, need a primitive fix
And I'll make, I'll make you love me

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess

See me jump through hoops for you
You stand there watching me performing
What exactly do you do?
Have you ever thought it's you that's boring?
Who the hell are you?

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary
Average every day sane psycho
Supergoddess
Average every day sane psycho

Liz Phair's one of those indie chick rockers too good for their own good. 'Extraordinary' is rather polished compared with her usual gems ...very Avril. Of course Liz Phair's been around far longer than Avril.
Phair's music is often sexually explicit so she never got any success in the mainstream. I don't consider the stuff profane however...rather honest and i respect that in songwriting! (80% of rap music is profane IMHO)
I like chick rock...i'm weird like that. Tanjung Rambutan here i come!
